Showcase Night Rescheduled! — February 19th

RESCHEDULED!!! Due to the Inclement Weather we are rescheduling our Showcase night that was to take place on Wednesday, February 13th.

Attention all students in southern Leeds and Grenville. St. Mary invites you to our Showcase night on Tuesday, February 19th beginning at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. We welcome everyone and in particular the grade 6 and grade 8 students from our catchment area. Come out to this exciting event and see what it means to Be a Crusader!

School Closed on Wednesday, February 13th

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario will be closing all schools and administrative offices on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. This decision was made in consultation with neighbouring and coterminous school boards, as well as Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO).

There will also be no evening activities including community use of schools. All secondary open house events scheduled for Wednesday evening will be rescheduled with updated dates posted at
We expect schools to reopen on Thursday, February 14, however, should this change, information will be posted on all CDSBEO media channels before 6 a.m. on Thursday.

If transportation on both Tuesday and Wednesday is cancelled, then all remaining exams (Period 2, 4 and 5) will be canceled and semester 2 will start Friday, February 1st at 8:05 am following a week 2 schedule.

We encourage students to watch and listen to the media for possible STEO transportation cancellations.

Further Exam Messaging – January 25th.

This morning we discussed with the High School students the new exam schedule. We asked the students to bring home all their exam materials this weekend so that they would have what they needed in case of further inclement weather days. Keep in mind the school is always open so that they can use the facility on inclement weather days. We also discussed the possibility that the exam schedule could be changed to write an exam in the afternoon should this be necessary. If your child has any concerns then please reach out to school staff for help. We understand this has been a difficult situation and we thank you for your patience. PS – it was great to see the students this morning

Updated Exam Schedule

As we explained in our previous post, exams will begin on Monday, January 28th and we will finish our Culminating Activities on Friday, January 25th.  Please Please click here for the updated Exam Schedule.  Please note that Semester 2 starts on Friday, February 1st.  Students are expected to be in class on Friday.  Students not writing an exam in the morning are expected to be in class in the afternoon.  Supervision will be provided in the morning for those students or they may choose to arrive at lunch.

Culminating and Exam Update

Thank you for your patience with the Inclement Weather and the Exam and Culminating Schedule

This is a message to let parents and students know that high school exams will now start on Monday, January 28.  The PD day will remain on Thursday, January 31st due to commitments in elementary schools and other programs in the Board.

Friday, February 1st will remain the first day of Semester 2.  We will run a 4-period day in the afternoon and the last day of exams in the morning.  Click here for a copy of the updated exam schedule.  Students are encouraged to check their class webpages, where applicable, for reviews and other course content to assist with preparing for exams.

Friday, January 25th, tomorrow, we will run the last Culminating Activity in the morning.  In the afternoon we will run a modified schedule to allow students the opportunity to see their teachers before exams on Monday and to finish grade 9 EQAO.

Going forward students should make sure they have all their materials and resources necessary for all exam preparation.  Should there be another inclement weather day then that exam day will be rescheduled for the afternoon of the next exam day.  {For instance, if Monday is an inclement weather day then you will write that exam in the afternoon on Tuesday}

A reminder that schools always remain open on snow days and we encourage students to come into the school and connect with their teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school.

Christmas Canned Food Drive

Once again, St. Mary had a successful Canned Food Drive for the Brockville and Prescott Food Banks.
