From the CSDBEO:

OFSAA has announced that it has cancelled all championships and festivals for the fall season. This decision is in alignment with the province’s Stage 3 reopening regulations. Those regulations apply a number of restrictions to sports and recreational activities that ultimately prohibit the possibility of OFSAA events. OFSAA established a Return to Sports Working Group in May. This working group is comprised of school administrators, teachers, a Director of Education, a public health official, and OFSAA staff. They will continue to meet and monitor this situation as it evolves.

Despite this disappointing news, CDSBEO continues to recognize the vital role of sports in education, and whenever possible, encourage the engagement of students in sports and activity for the benefit of their physical and mental well-being. The status of 2021 winter and spring championships will be determined at a later date. CDSBEO will continue to work closely with the Chief Medical Officer of Health for the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit regarding the re-engagement of organized sport in our schools.

The Ontario government has compiled several sport-specific safety and protocol documents from provincial and national sport organizations. These are available at, which has also been included in the CDSBEO Reopening of Schools Plan.

We will continue to keep you updated on the status of both CDSBEO and OFSAA winter and spring sports/events as the year unfolds.
